FOREWORD

The matter contained in this bookoriginally appeared, in substantiallythe same form, as a series of articles inour monthly publication “PlymouthProducts.” The story aimed to makebetter known an industry previously littleunderstood and thereby to advance thecause of good rope.

First and last this “Story of Rope”has had many interested and responsivereaders. Encouraged by the large numbersof requests for it which continuallycome to us, we are now led to publish itanew and with the hope that in its presentimproved form it will still furtherfulfill its original purpose.
