FEW works have had a more rapidsale than the following; two largeeditions having been disposed of in twoyears. This induced the proprietors toprint a third: but, as soon as this impressionwas finished, I purchased both theprinted copies and the copy-right.
I have since added to the work, someAccount of the Author’s life, and anIndex to the Travels, which are publishedseparately, for the convenience of thepurchasers of the first and second editions;on whom, I was unwilling to raisean extraordinary tax for the third edition.
