For these letters I claim no literarymerit: they were written during a periodof extraordinary strain for family perusalonly, and are a faithful record hour byhour of the Sinn Fein rebellion as I saw it.The wide interest the letters excited inthe family circle and the little that seemsto be known of a period of such intenseinterest is my reason for offering them toa wider public.
